Our Smart Centre is our integrated communications hub between energy suppliers, customers and meter installers.

Our primary function is to book smart meter appointments and to handle any resulting queries or issues.

We pride ourselves on outstanding customer service and experience. We take vulnerability seriously, offering a wide range of support services including Braille, Deaf Signing and Language Interpretation.

Our core opening hours are as follows:
8 a.m. - 8 p.m. Monday to Friday
9 a.m. - 5 p.m. Weekends and Bank Holidays

What is a smart meter?

Smart meters are the new generation of gas and electricity meters, which will replace the traditional meters in our homes.

Smart meters measure the gas and electricity you are using and display this in near real time on a user friendly portable screen. They also send automatic meter readings to your energy supplier through a secure wireless network.

Everyone in Britain will have one soon.

Smart meters will be fitted in 26 million homes by 2020 as part of a national rollout. It's the biggest improvement of our energy system in decades.

What are the benefits of getting a smart meter?

  • You will only be billed for the energy you use
  • No more manual meter readings and estimated bills
  • It will be easy to identify potential energy savings

What do I need to know about my smart meter installation?

  • Your smart meter will be installed by a trained installer at no extra cost to you
  • Before they arrive, make sure you know where your current meters are located
  • If you've been contacted by us to arrange to have your smart meter installed please call us on 0800 953 4345 to book your appointment with our installer

On the day

  • On arrival, our installer will present their ID card
  • You must be present throughout the installation process. During this time, your energy supply will be cut off temporarily
  • Your installer will show you how to use your energy usage monitor
  • If a gas meter is being installed, a gas safety check will also be performed free of charge

Getting the help you need

We will provide tailored services to ensure you have a straightforward installation and offer: -

  • Deaf or hard of hearing signing - including a video relay service
  • Braille, large print and audio - for blind and partially sighted
  • Language interpretation and translation - for some 200 languages
  • Wider energy and fuel poverty advice - to include energy saving support
